Context/Problem: In the "ProWoThai" project, a cooperation between TU Dortmund University and partner universities in Thailand is the starting point for an active exchange on approaches and methods of vocational education research. The research network uses the joint research know-how to evaluate and improve selected challenges in initial and continuing vocational education and training in Thailand. Research question: How can the implementation and improvement of selected approaches to work-based learning be promoted through scientific coaching and with the action research approach? Method/Approach: The methodological approach is to use "action research". The basic principles of this approach consist of an equal partnership between research and practice (in the form of a direct interweaving of theory and practice), a goal setting that is focused on innovation and problem solving, and a broad as well as participatory application of (mainly qualitative) research methods. Expected result: The result will be available as an evaluation that refers to the respective aspects and objectives of the different target groups, learning environments and approaches of work-based learning. Areas of application are e.g. the improvement of learning outcomes, examples of successful learning place cooperation ("Lernortkooperation") or the evaluation of methodological approaches to work-based learning.
