99 ERC SES 05 F, NW 29. Research on Arts Education Workshop: Performing PhD research through arts
Network Workshop
Contribution
In the realm of participatory research linked to arts-based research, there is an increasing interest in looking at ways to approach research that understands theory and practice as intertwined.
Furthermore, the implementation and unfolding of the performativity concept in the academy linked to the arts, as well as the importance of embodied learning and corporeality in research, are bringing experimental and performative perspectives to approach research.
Several studies in arts and educational fields highlight how through artistic strategies researchers can relate differently to their research and how this allows them to discover dimensions of research that they were unaware of, to open themselves to other ways of looking at and understanding research, as well as to allow ourselves to be affected and travessed by it differently.
The objective of the workshop is to introduce participants to artistic methods for a better understanding of their research processes and to find strategies that allow them to explain research in a more multidisciplinary, sensorial, artistic, and corporeal way.
The idea of this workshop is to invite emerging researchers to experiment with ways of visualizing and performing their research.
To do this, a first introduction to the concept of the performativity and performative research paradigm is proposed. After that, different strategies and proposals will be shared where participants will be able to relate to texts and their research through performativity. The workshop aims to propose to participants different activities that allow them to think about their thesis and research processes in a corporeal and artistic way.
