I here explore the vital work of contemporary philosophers of education through a close reading of the French philosopher Alain Badiou’s way of re-reading Karl Marx’ Theses on Feuerbach (1845). To Badiou, the philosopher is committed to the incommensurable relation between the rules of philosophy and the ordinary rules of life. But what may be the significance of a philosophy of education if there are no common measures between a philosophical situation and ordinary life?
