This paper presents some of the results of the project Youth4Youth, financed by the Daphne III programme of the European Commission. Data collection included quantitative questionnaires and qualitative focus groups with adolescents studying egalitarian attitudes towards gender roles as well as sexist stereotypes. This project studies peer education as a strategy for the prevention of gender violence. The difficulties to identify gender violence from the point of view of youth drove to some of them to suffer gender violence in their relationships. In occasions, there is the perception of acceptance of oppressive attitudes and za repression to the existing myths on gender violence in the relationships. Peer education is considered the suitable path to do prevention understanding that the familiarity of the students with classmates involves a safe environment in which they can feel the empathy and better understand their feelings, thoughts and experiences. On the other hand, occasionally, the relevance of the data gathered creates the need to plan educational interventions in which education among peers is promotes with the aim to prevent gender violence and promote an active participation to develop a safe environment in which may appear relationships based on respect and equality.
