Contribution
The aim of the study is to investigate studies on classroom management in the field of early childhood education conducted in Turkey. The change in the role of teachers creates a need on the change of classroom management strategies used in the classrooms for an effective and meaningful learning process. Classroom management, traditionally, was seen as a technique for discipline and behavior modification. However, it is now known that classroom management is the organization and coordination of each and every component in a learning environment (Tauber, 2007). Classroom management has the purposes of supporting effective teaching and meaningful learning with a positive learning climate, encouraging developmental areas of students, and increasing their self-esteem and achievement levels (Ming-Tak & Wai-Shing, 2008). Educating young children needs additional effort as they are in a critical period and their developmental needs should be supported while educating them. Classroom management strategies indicate differences based on the areas and the most difference appears in early education as young children need differentiated learning environments and teaching methods. Thus, classroom management is a complex concept that more importance should be given for it while studying with children. Therefore, this study aims to provide a basis for the future studies planned to be conducted on classroom management in early childhood education area by examining the gaps that needed to be searched.
