Title
Special Call for Long Papers
Abstract
The convenors of Network 13 Philosophy of Education are pleased to announce a special call for long papers (4,000–6,000 words) for the 2027 European Conference on Educational Research (ECER), to be held in Debrecen, Hungary. This year accepted long papers will be considered for publication in the journal Colloquium, with Itay Snir and Piotr Zamojski as guest editors.
The Call
We invite long paper submissions that engage philosophically with the theme of ECER 2027 conference on Learning Communities and Shared Futures in Education.
We particularly welcome papers that critically examine the concept of the learning community and explore alternative ways of thinking about learning, and about community in an educational context. Is there a chance to redeem learning after the critique of learnification of education, and what could be the link between learning and community at a time when online platforms and artificial intelligence seem to be expanding the possibilities and appeal of individualized and personalized learning? Contributions might consider the institutions and settings in which educational communities take shape – including schools, universities, families, but also audiences (in theaters or cinemas), civic gatherings, reading groups, etc.; bring philosophical debates about community and common sense into conversation with educational questions; as well as explore the kind of futures we can share in / through education in the time of no future.
Long papers engaging with the theme of the conference will be eligible to be considered for publication in Colloquium. These selected papers will also undergo the journal’s double-blind peer-review process. Full information about the conference and the theme can be found here: eera-ecer.de/conferences/ecer-2027-debrecen
