Network Meeting 2016, Dublin

The network meeting was attended by 14 participants, including the link convenor and 2 convenors. The link convenor presented some details on the conference, the number of submissions to the network and the reviewing process. This year's rejection rate in the network was 24%, which is higher than the overall average rejection rate of 13% for this year's conference. This is a result of the network's aim to strive for high quality contributions.

The participants expressed favourable views about the sessions, but there were two comments. Firstly, there were remarks about the organisers giving preference to scheduling symposia on friday afternoon, which gives the impression that the organisers don't like symposia. Secondly, it was found to be inconvenient that the posters were located in a different building. The network members would prefer to have the posters close to the presentation rooms. For the 2017 conference it was agreed to experiment with a new  presentation format: the Pecha Cucha. This consists of 20 slides and a total presentation time of 6 minutes and 20 seconds.

In order to foster communication in the network, it was agreed to ask EERA office to set up a new mailing list, in addition to the already existing LinkedIn group. The mailing list will be maintained by our convenor Philippe Gabriel.

The link convenor asked participants to agree to being a reviewer and/or chairperson for next year's conference.

It was agreed to nominate one of the network members for the honorary membership of the network.

Some details were provided about the possibility of applying for network funding, although last year's application has been rejected.

One of the editors of the British Journal of Educational Techology attended the meeting and asked the participants to consider handing in quality contributions to the journal or becoming a reviewer.
