Network Meeting 2018, Bolzano

Minutes Network 19  - Ethnography – meeting, 5 of September 2018

The meeeting took place on Thusday in the last slot ans aproximatelly 25-30 (no pictures were taken) participants attended, besides conveenors (Sofia Marques da Silva, Dennis Beach, Andrea Raggl and Karen Borgnakke).

The agenda included the follwing topics:

1. Information from Link Convenors’ meeting :

• ECER Evaluation form
• Pecha Kucha presentations
• Network self awareness – network development and activities in and out of ECER
• EERA – become more visible in our activities
• Financial support information to networks – 1rst of November (deadline)
• EERA Publications
  • Research Methods Book
  • Book series
  • Review Journal
  • EERJ

2.Overview about the programme

• 9 sessions, some are parallel sessions
• 1 joint session
• 1 workshop
• 5 symposia
• 1 poster 

Sessions were considered with quality and the call for papers had very good outcomes (also with impact in organising proposals for the Journal associated to the Network Ethnography and Education (Taylor & Francis)

3. Acknowledging the work to put together the progamme

• Convenors: Dennis Beach (SW), Karen Borgnakke (DK), Geoff Bright (UK), Francesca Gobbo (IT), Ingrid Kellerman (DE), Christoph Maeder (CH), Andrea Raggl (AU)
• Reviewers: Marianne Dovemark (SW); Anita Erickson (SW); Juana Sancho-Gil (SP)
• If needed we may ask other collegues to become reviewers.

4. Discussing the activities related with the newtork

• Call for Papers on SPACE, ETHNOGRAPHY and EDUCATION (3 sessions)
• Nanna Jordt Jørgensen and Adam Wood contributed for the cal for papers on space and are willing to continue.
• WINTER SCHOOL – University of Barcelona (Juana Sancho-Gil (org.) – will take place in December with the support of EERA financing programme.

5. Hamburg 2019 – celebrating 20 years of the network

• Symposia 20 years of Network 19: “Being out there”
• Call for papers: 20 years of network Ethnography: past, present and future. It was suggested last year and this year again.
• Invited Keynote included in a Rountable with historical members of the
• Social event
• Invite also to other networks to present ethnographic based research
• Event related with ERC, involving emerging researchers
• Self awareness : financing celebrations of 20 years

7. Election of the new link convenor – starting in 2019 (after Hamburg)

The election was based on EERA sugested procedures, disseminated among all conveenors before ECER: 2 convenors nominated a candidate – Catarina Player-Koro. The election took place in the network meeting and all the conveenors in the room (Dennis Beach, Sofia Marques da Silva, Karen Borgnakke and Andrea Raggl) voted in favour of the only candidate.

Catarina Player-Koro from the University of Gothenburg is the new link conveenor starting her activities after Hamburg. During the preparation of ECER 2019 she will be already in close contact with the Link Convenor – Sofia Marques da Silva.
