Annual Report 2020, ‘Reconnecting EERA’

With the intention to stimulate innovative research within the network’s area and to attract new members and broaden the reach of our research activities, the network organised an interactive webinar as part of the #ReconnectingEERA activity schedule. The theme of the webinar was Challenges and future directions for children’s rights in education: setting research agendas and possibilities for network 25. We were joined by 66 participants from 23 different countries within and outside Europe. 11 presenters provided thought provoking and stimulating ‘Lightning Talks’ on different ‘wicked problems’ (complex or difficult to solve) that affect children’s rights and education. The speakers comprised of young people and adults, including academics and members of NGOs from around the world. We have already received positive participant response, expressing interest in events like this in the future, as well as ideas for future network discussions. The key themes and the conceptual bigger picture developed in the webinar was visually summarised. Thanks also to the University of Geneva and its Centre for Children’s Rights Studies for technical support, and to the following organisations who supported young people’s participation in the event: Child Rights Connect; Eurochild; Time-matters UK, and Arigatou International.

Each network holds a Network Meeting during ECER and invites interested researchers to join. We have collected the network meeting minutes.
