Network Meeting 2017, Copenhagen

Discussions with emerging researcher group members during the meeting indicated a demand/ need for further guidance and opportunities around professional networking. Emerging researchers were also informed about the opportunity to become co-convenors with the emerging researchers group and a number of them expressed their interest in doing so. As the ERG currently requires new co-convenors, the meeting served as a useful opportunity for emerging researchers to speak with current co-convenors, and later, during the ERC social which followed immediately after, to speak with the ERG Link Convenor and ERG Senior Mentor to get a better understanding of the timelines and duties. Those who put their names forward were considered for the role during detailed discussions between the ERG Link Convenor and ERG Senior Mentor, along with brief consultation with EERA Exec, following which certain emerging researchers were invited to the role. Also during the ERG meeting, emerging researchers were informed about the possibility to be mentored for reviews of ERC submissions, and also mentoring/chairing sessions during ERC 2018, if they wished to begin considering such opportunities at the current point in time. A number of emerging researchers have already written requesting to be mentored for the reviewing process, indicating the success of the pilot initiative for ERC 2017.

The Emerging Researchers' Group runs a mailing list and invites researchers to join. To join the mailing list, send a blank message to erg-subscribe(at)lists.eera-ecer.de
