Network Meeting 2018, Bolzano

Summary of the ERG Meeting

For the first time, during the ERG meeting, following the introduction about the goals and activities of the ERG, all the participants broke up into small groups. Each subgroup was facilitated by a co-convenor who facilitated discussion about ERC participants’ experiences, including the elements of the ERC that have been useful so far, as well as suggestions for specific areas of development and further initiatives that can meet participants’ needs.  Feedback was written on post-it notes and stuck on to white sheets at the end of the session. Appendix 1 contains the raw data from this exercise. Participants’ responses have been themed.

The following themes were mentioned multiple times as positive elements of the ERC:

  • Safe and supportive climate
  • Workshops
  • Opportunities for receiving feedback after presentations (mentoring of the chairs)

The themes most common regarding proposed suggestions for the future were as follows:

  • More guidance on how to find your way in the conference. Help some first attenders how to navigate to the conference.
  • Stimulate a safe climate/group feeling by organizing a way to get to know each other a bit better.

Too many parallel sessions/full programme/ too little time to deepen discussions
