British Educational Research Association (BERA)

The British Educational Research Association (BERA) is the home of educational research in the United Kingdom. We are a membership association committed to working for the public good by sustaining a strong and high quality educational research community, dedicated to advancing knowledge of education. Our charitable purpose is to encourage the pursuit of educational research and its application for both the improvement of practice and the public benefit. BERA’s core aims are to: advance research quality, build research capacity and foster research engagement in the education field.

Nordic Educational Research Association (NFPF/NERA)

The Nordic Educational Research Association (NFPF/NERA) is the main association for educational researchers in the Nordic countries. It is a basis for cooperation and development of educational research. It is open for everyone that has an interest in educational research in the Nordic context. It started in 1972 and has established itself as a key factor in educational research in the Nordic countries. Its congresses have since then been a yearly meeting-place for educational researchers of all kinds of special interests. The association is based on membership and decision-making is following traditional democratic rules. The yearly general assembly is the highest decision-making body. It appoints a board.

‘Nordic Studies in Education’ is the scientific journal published in collaboration with Nordic Educational Research Association and with financial aid from Nordic Board for Periodicals in the Humanities and the Social Sciences and is directed to educators and researchers and others interested in the field of education. Nordic Studies in Education is published quarterly and accepts contributions written in the Scandinavian languages and in English.

Società Italiana di Pedagogia (SIPED)

SIPED was founded in 1989 in Roma (Italy). The members are all Academics working in Italian Universities – Professors, Researchers, PHD and Post-doc. There is a Board and an Executive Committee.

The aims of the Association are: to promote the development of studies, scholarship and research related to pedagogical disciplines, promote the constitution and the strengthening of related research and teaching structures, organize and encourage meetings and active cooperation among researchers, promote studies on pedagogical professional roles and support the spread of the culture of pedagogy in Italy and abroad.

As regards these objectives, SIPED periodically organizes National and International Seminars and Conferences; establishes collaboration relations with National and International Associations having similar aims and working in the same (scientific) area, as well as with Bodies and Institutions with competences in the Education and Training sector, and publishes books, book series, and periodicals.
There are 28 Networks and a Journal, called ‚‘Pedagogia Oggi‘‘. There is also a regular Newsletter, a website, a number of Conferences and an annual National Conference, many Seminars.
SIPED is the hosting ECER association of next year’s ECER in Bolzano.

Swiss Society for Research in Education (SSRE)

The Swiss Society for Research in Education was set up in 1975 and now has some 500 members from all scientific disciplines that are relevant for education. It is a member of the Schweizerische Akademie für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften/Académie Suisse des Sciences Humaines et Sociales/Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW/ASSH) and the European Educational Research Association (EERA). The Society organises an annual congress and continues its activities through its 8 standing working parties over the rest of the year. The SSRE publishes a series of books under the general title of Explorationen (Peter Lang Publishing Group) as well as the periodical Schweizerische Zeitschrift für Bildungswissenschaften/Revue Suisse des Sciences de l’Education SZBW/RSSE. The aims of the society are:

  • Consolidate educational research in the national and international academic field;
  • bring together the educational researchers active in Switzerland and enhance interdisciplinary cooperation between them;
  • establish the advancement of young academics (including an Academic Relief Award);
  • support the cooperation with other research organizations on a national as well as an international level;
  • promote cooperation between educational research, practice, administration and politics and represent the interests of educational research.

Finnish Educational Research Association (FERA)

The Finnish Educational Research Association (FERA), established in 1967, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017. Today there are close to 650 members in the association.

The aim of FERA is to enhance educational research and dissemination of the findings in the field. The three cornerstones of the association’s activities are: organizing the annual conference, publishing, and enabling the functioning of the Special Interest Groups (SIG). Together with the Finnish Institute for Educational Research (FIER), FERA also publishes The Finnish Journal of Education (Kasvatus -lehti) and its fee is included in the membership fee.

FERA was a founding member of EERA, in 1994.
