Who can apply and what does it cost?
Applicants are doctoral and advanced research students who primarily come from or study in EERA‘s member countries. Their thesis must relate to educational research. The focus of the summer school is on the phase of developing the research project. This means that the topic has been identified, the theoretical background is being elaborated and qualitative/mixed design appears to be appropriate. Preferably the participant should be a Ph.D. student in the first or second year of his/her studies in order to most benefit from the summer school. In some cases, people who already have their PhD can attend the summer school - they should explain in their application how the the summer school would support them in their further research. Your CV and a letter of endorsement from a current or former supervisor or other senior staff member must be uploaded during the application process in order to be considered for summer school participation.
The fee for the Summer School 2019 is 250 € (students from High GDP countries) or 130 € (students from Low GDP countries). This fee covers tuition, accommodation, breakfast and lunch every day and a welcome and farewell dinner. Participants will be expected to share a double room with a same-sex participant (a single room is possible with a surcharge).
Participants must cover their travel costs.
The Summer School will be held in English.

Application deadline: 31 January 2019
List of Low GDP countries
Please note that the crucial factor for the reduced Low GDP fee is not the country of origin but the country of residence.
As grounds for determing the GDP status of a country, EERA used the World bank data for 2017, GDP per capita. The threshold for low-GDP country status is an annual per capita GDP which is lower than 71% of the GDP of the total EU (for ECER 2019 this means less than $23.937,74 US).
You can find the list of low GDP countries here.
