College students are under a lot of stress due to their career choices, anxiety about the future, etc. while achieving developmental tasks such as establishing self - identity and personality maturity. In particular, Korean college students are under increasing stress due to excessive academic capacity, credit management, relationship with professors, employment problems, and expensive tuition fees. High stress of college students also negatively affects subjective well-being. Therefore, it is necessary to study the stress of college students. The purpose of this study is to examine the mindfulness of university students as a mediator between college life stress and subjective well - being. Mental well-being is defined as subjective well-being and the relationship with stress in college life. Mindfulness is the attention and awareness of what is happening now. Mindfulness can be expected to play a significant mediating role between stress and subjective well - being in college students.
Method
The participants of this study were 395 University Students in South Korea. In order to achieve it, 395 university students completed a set of questionnaires about college life stress, Mindfulness qiestionair, subjective well-being. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS 23.0, and Corbach’s α coefficient was extracted to verify the reliability of each scale. The data was then analyzed by correlation analysis and mediation analysis(Baron & Kenny, 1986)
Expected Outcomes
First, college life stress was negatively correlated with positive emotion, satisfaction of life of college students but positively correlated with negative emotion. The Mindfulness was positively correlated with positive emotion, satisfaction of life of college students but negatively correlated with negative emotion. Second, there is partial mediation effect of Mindfulness on between college life stress and subjective well-being(SWB) of university students. Second, there is partial mediation effect of Mindfulness on between college life stress and subjective well-being(SWB) of university students. There is partial mediation effect of Mindfulness on between college life stress and satisfaction of life of university students. There is partial mediation effect of Mindfulness on between college life stress and positive emotion of university students. There is full mediation effect of Mindfulness on between college life stress and negative emotion of university students.
