Research object – the importance of the individual vocal studies in the future music teachers’ training process.
The aim of the research is to uncover the importance of the individual vocal studies in the future music teachers’ education process.
Research questions:
1. What position do the individual vocal studies take up in the future music teachers’ musical education process in Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden and Finland?

2. How much does the understanding of the importance of the individual vocal studies differ in these four countries?

3. Are the individual vocal studies significant in the future music teachers’ professional life?

The work discusses the connection between the individual vocal studies and the professional growing in the context of the future music teachers’ education in four countries – Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden, Finland.
The questionnaire, which was composed of 35 questions, tried to uncover the main sides of the coherence between the individual vocal studies and the future music teachers’ competencies – from the personal meaning till the more common significance. It tried to explore the main tendencies – how much are future music teacher going to use the singing in their lessons in the schools, what are their opinion about the importance of the singing in the lessons and etc.
The comparings of the research results let to find out the singularities of the different ways in the future music teachers’ training in four countries.
The experience of each country is very valuable and important for the new findings in the optimization of the future music teachers’ education programs.
This research shows that there is a request for the much bigger study in this specific sphere.

Method

The theoretical analysis allowed creating a questionnaire, which was used in the research and it was given to the future music teachers. The number of respondents, who were participating in the research, was over 159 and they were from Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and Sweden. Quantitative analysis of the questionnaire was processed with the program SPSS 12.0 for Windows. The study data was processed using descriptive statistics. There were calculated percentage frequencies; also it was used factor analysis.

Expected Outcomes

1. According to the research the individual vocal studies takes up the important position in the future music teacher’s musical education process. 2. The research showed that the understanding of the importance of the individual vocal studies is similar in Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden and Finland. 3. The work uncover that the individual vocal studies are very valuable in the future music teachers’ professional life.
