The relevance of the study presented is based on the fact that being an entrepreneur plays a critical role in promoting regional economies. In addition entrepreneurship competence promotes young people’s personal development and freedom of choice in their vocational qualification route and labour market integration. For those reasons, the research has analysed the importance given to the entrepreneurship subject in the curriculum of the final two years of compulsory education (pre-vocational education), and how that competence is seen by teachers and social partners. The study was conducted under a multiple “case study” approach (2 schools) framed by a comparative analysis at European level (5 EU member states), comprising content analysis of the curriculum of the two last years of the compulsory education and data gathered from interviews of teachers and people responsible for social partners. The curricular analysis was conducted following a previous developed and tested observation grid and the interviews were conducted using guides developed after results from the curricular analysis. Results indicate the relevance of teaching entrepreneurship in pre-vocational compulsory education. This is identified also from results from several other studies.
