Network Meeting 2016, Dublin

At the Network Meeting time was given to considering Network Structure and the procedure for electing office bearers.

It was decided that from August 2017 there would be 4 Convenors:

  • Link Convenor
  • Deputy Link Convenor
  • Communications and Social Media Convenor
  • Publications Convenor

A procedure for electing office bearers was discussed.  When a vacancy arises, an invitation to stand will be sent by email after the Easter holidays and members will be invited to either nominate themselves or to nominate another person (with their prior agreement).  A list of candidates will then be circulated to members prior to the August Network Meeting by the current Link Convenor. Members will be invited to express a preference if more than 1 candidate applies for a specific role.  The outcome of this will be communicated at the forthcoming Network Meeting.

It was decided that the usual term of office would be 3 years (with a 1 year shadowing / handover for the Link Convenor role). It would be possible for a Convenor to extend their term of office with both their agreement and that of the Network Members.

The current Link Convenor, John I'Anson, indicated that he planned to step down from this role after August 2017.
