ECER Social Event Thursday

(This event is offered on a self-paid basis, at 25 € per person, and requires registration, see below)

When: Thursday 5 September, 19:00 – 22:00
Where: Millerntor Stadium Ballsaal
Harald-Stender-Platz 1, 20359 Hamburg
(U-Bahn Feldstraße or U-Bahn St. Pauli)
Cost: 25 € per person. Pre-booking required

Don’t miss this social event in a very special location, the FC St. Pauli’s Millerntor Stadium. It will take place in Ballsaal, the stadium's ballroom, from where you will have a great view of the stands and the field. There will be savory dishes and local drinks (currently limited to 3 free drinks per person). Try the Hanseatic beer brands Astra and Holsten, different wines or maybe the lively fritz-kola soft drinks. Furthermore, there will be a diverse music programme while you can mingle and enjoy the special atmosphere in the Millerntor Stadium. The bands Billy Burrito and Jukebox50 will make you dance and thirsty for sure. We will also present the work of the research project “Healing soundscapes”.

Those who don’t know the FC St. Pauli may ask: ECER and football, how do these two go together? The famous Hamburg football club plays an important role in the local community. Rooted and located in the heart of the city of Hamburg, the district St. Pauli, the football club owes its identity to this area and has a social and political responsibility towards the people who live there. In addition, it promotes values such as tolerance and respect, and engages itself in numerous social projects.

To support participants from Low GDP Countries in attending the social event we offer a solidarity surcharge. When booking the social event in the Millerntor Stadium you can optionally contribute a specific amount for a raffle of free tickets. These will be given to ECER participants who otherwise may not be able to afford to participate in this social event.

In addition, the FC St. Pauli Museum will be extending their exhibition "Kiezbeben" so that ECER participants have a chance to attend it. A "Kiez" is an urban neighborhood and a "Beben" is an earthquake. The exhibition explores the St.Pauli "Kiez" at the end of the 80's, a period of riots and new beginnings, demolition and change. There will be a stand at the Millentor Social Event with further info and groups of 20 - 30 people will be guided through the exhibit in English. (approx. 40 minutes)
