Education in an Era of Risk – the Role of Educational Research for the Future

EERA and the Local Organizers of ECER 2019 would like to formally open ECER 2019 Hamburg, 'Education in an Era of Risk – the Role of Educational Research for the Future'.

ECER 2019 will welcome 6 keynote speakers: Karen Block (University of Melbourne), Dieter Lenzen (Universität Hamburg), Heila Lotz-Sisitka (Rhodes University), Annette Scheunpflug (University of Bamberg), Dirk Van Damme (OECD – Centre for Educational Research and Innovation) and Arjen Wals (Wageningen University).

EERA Council and the local organising committee prepare a range of sessions addressing various themes, such as funding options and insight into the education system of the hosting country.

ECER 2019 is hosting a series of EERA Workshops which will be taking place at various times Tuesday morning between 8:30 and 13:00. The exact times can be found below. Please note that as the workshop sizes are limited, participants will be required to register for the workshops in advance, you will find the links to do so in the description of each workshop.

The theme of ECER 2019 is 'Education in an Era of Risk – the Role of Educational Research for the Future'. The keynote speakers have shared their research and insights in their keynotes over the past days. At the EERA Panel 4 of the ECER 2019 keynote speakers will discuss with each other and also enter into dialogue with the audience.

Although scholarship on the rise of a global education policy field has dominated education research for more than a decade, there is less emphasis and attention to national policy frames and translations of these global trends, and even less focus on the ways that national discourses travel and often shape international movements and world politics.

Each year, ECER hosts a Poster Exhibition as well as an Exhibition for Publishers, Research Instruments and EERA Member Associations. At this exhibition, ECER participants can take a look at the latest publications in the field of educational research and also learn about new tools for research.

Here you will find workshops to support you in writing, publishing, making your research visible and implementing grounded theory analysis, Meet and Greets with publishers and EERA member associations as well as Ceremonies and Awards.

There will be two ECER 2019 Social Events, the Welcome Reception Tuesday evening (free of charge) and the ECER Social in the St Pauli's Millerntor-Stadium (self-paid).

Sustainability activities, a film screening and discussion, university sports service and a special offer for ECER-kids.
